The Trouble Maker

Once in 1784 in Texas, there was a dragon called Misastory. He liked to sit on the T.V and watch the couch. One day a man came to talk to Misastory, he wanted to be entertained. So he said" you're just fat old lazy dragon! You can't even fly up to the heavens." " Yes I can!" said Misastory. " I will show you". Off he went. Up in the heavens the god of Thunder and Lightning were fighting over who was the best at aiming. The challenged each other and asked Zeus to judge. Back on earth with Misastory. Misastory lied, he couldn't fly up to the heavens. He always go himself into trouble. He didn't want everybody to know his secret. He went up to the heavens by jumping up tall trees. When he got there he accidentally hit the god of Lightnings lightning bolt. The lightning bolt hit the god of Thunder. The god of Thunder pulled the lightning bolt out of his chest and fell to the ground and died. So Zeus growled "get back up here Misastory, you are going to stay up here with the rest of your kind, because you have killed a god your punishment is to stay up here for ever!" So that's why you will never see a dragon on earth.

Penpals

In room 4 we have started writing to penpals. Penpals are people you write to and get replies. We are writing to Ms Komens class at Birchville School in Upper Hutt. We have sent one letter so far and are working on booklets about ourselves to send next. We think penpal are quite nice and we think its cool to get a letter back from them once we have sent one. We are looking forward to learning more about them and what they look like. We hope to send them emails and use Skype to talk to them. We also hope to meet them.

Report Writing

In room 4 we have started to focus on report writing. To write a successful report we came up with this criteria - it has to be true
- have an opening statment
- have paragraphs
- summary statment
- have interesting facts
Below is a report about Kakapo by Stefanija Paleaae and Harry Lomax-Sawyers

The Kakapo

A kakapo is a green feathered bird.

It has green feathers and a little bit of yellow with a grey beak. A male kakapo is 60 centremetres.A female is much smaller.

It lives in Anchor and Codfish Islands at the very bottom of New Zealand. They spend most of their time perched on the trees in anchor and codfish islands.

The kakapo eats almonds, berries, nuts and muesli from D.O.C .The berries come from rimu trees.

Kakapos like playing as much as humans. Kakapos are endangered so whenever you see a kakapo hurt help them or contact a wild life sanctuary.

Kakapo Report

The Kakapo is an endangered species of bird.

It was once able to fly but is now flightless. It can live up to an astounding 90 years. Although it is a type of parrot it is more like the also flightless Kiwi bird. A male can grow to around 60cm tall.

Like a Kiwi and Morepork it is nocturnal which means it sleeps in the day and come out at night.

It is a vegetarian, feeding on things such as berries and nuts.

Sadly it only lives on two islands in New Zealand, which is the only country to have wild Kakapo.

The islands are Anchor Island and Codfish Island. New Zealand is blessed to have such a rare bird.

Freeze Frames

On Thursday our class did drama, in drama we did freeze frames. A freeze frame is when you freeze in a position to show a story. We had to do four freeze frames to show different fairy tales. We did it in small groups of 4 - 8. In our group was Harrison, Joshua, Harry, Keegan and Kes.We did Peter Pan. In the first photo Harrison (left) is Captain Hook is having a sword fight with Joshua (right) Peter Pan. In the second photo Captain Hook is near the edge of the boat. The third photo shows Peter Pan stabbing Caption Hook. " It was pretty painful for me but it was fun doing drama" said Harrison. " It was pretty fun but it wasn't painful for me" said Joshua. We think Kes did a great job of being Tinkerbell.
